Welcome!

Welcome to Aaron John-Jordan! He arrived on April 18, 2010 at 11:55am, weighing 3190 grams (7 pounds exactly) and 50cm in length. He is greeted by older brother Austin Joel, older sister Maria Arlene, mom and dad. Exactly how he will be written in to any future stories has yet to be determined.

World Tour

Piggy Tales stories are already known in many parts of the world. The latest country to be welcomed to the Piggy Tales family is Johannesburg, South Africa. Apparently April is their rainy season because a lady there bought a copy of The Terrible Scary Storm. Piggy Tales are already known in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, Trinidad, Jamaica, Canada, Mexico, and the USA. Please let us know if you've shared a copy of a Piggy Tales story with someone in another country so we can add it to our growing list!

Congratulations, Bud!

Congratulations are in order for Bud Weightman. On March 25, 2010, his first grandson was born. Bud already has two granddaughters and this is the first grandson in the family. Peeper the Duck was written for the granddaughters, so it looks like we will need to come up with a new story for the new grandson!

Small changes, printing update

The laser printer is very particular about the finish on the paper. If there is any hint of gloss, it sticks to the other sheets. :-( The new flat, matte paper is 120 grams, not 135 gram, like the semi-gloss. It really isn't noticeable. The other option was a thicker weight, but that did not print well and gave the test project a "poofy" appearance. We hope this change is okay!

Special free gift

Piggy Tales Press is offering a special free gift, while supplies last. For every copy of Meet a New Friend purchased, we will include a free read-along CD, read by the author. This is our special gift to show our appreciation for your support and encouragement of our new business.

Have a blessed holiday season!

Piggy Tales Press is E X P A N D I N G!

Great news! Piggy Tales Press is seeking your writing submissions! We want to put together a collection of your inspirational moments about how an animal inspired you to think about God. Were there prayers for a lost or sick pet? Did an animal reflect God's love for mankind? Was a prayer for a pet answered? The theme is what I call "gently Christian" in a non-denominational style. The stories will hopefully be grouped by animal types- cat stories, dog stories, etc. There are similar books on the market with collections of stories people submitted. These need to be original because even though the format is similar, the content will be unique. Please write if you have any questions or to submit.

Piggy Tales Press is seeking submissions of poems to add to our website. If you have a collection of poems you've always wanted to publish, please contact us for more details. Adult's or children's poem will be considered as long as they are in good taste.

Shhhh! Here's a sneak peek from the Piggy Wedding

Pinky, do Missy and Mac really, really like each other?” asked Vienna. “Or do you think they only sort of like each other?”
“Oh, isn’t obvious? They are really, really, totally in L-O-V-E,” answered Pinky.
“Love is so romantic,” said my sister, Fawn. “I can’t wait to be in love.”
“How mushy!” said Vienna. “Kissy-kissy! Bleck.” Vienna stuck out his tongue and shook his head.
Gizzy looked at Pinky and Vienna. She told them, “Get over it. Go roll in a mud puddle. Mud makes pigs look better. Maybe it might help you act better. Quit being such little tattle tales too.”
"Pinky, do you think Mac will turn into a girl because he likes a girl?” laughed Bytes.

The piglets are growing up. What will happen when the piglets start teasing? Will Missy and Mac decide the teasing hurts their feelings and stop spending time together? Will Mac get mad and bite the nasty little piglets? Will Missy tell Gladys the boys are teasing?

Progress Report: The search for a publisher

Right now we are self-publishing. I am searching for a publisher. It is an interesting journey. The book "Writer's Market" is very extensive and I was amazed by the high specific specialty publishing companies. Unfortunately, I did not find any that specialized in pig or animal stories. In June, I sent out quite a few queries, which came to almost $200 in postage. The blurbs say it can take 3 to 6 months to get a reply, if a rejection notice is even going to be sent. I am so grateful for places that accept simultaneous submissions! I still have quite a few more queries to send out. My next task is to organize the publishers and stories I submitted in Excel so I can keep up with them. I will share more on this. To keep things simple and in order, I am going to post follow-ups as comments to this post.

In the works: The Piggy Wedding

We are in the design phase of the latest Piggy Tales Adventure, The Piggy Wedding. It is the second story in the early chapter section, for children ages 8 to 11 years. Luis has cleverly brought this story to life with his dynamic pencil illustrations. Amelia is creatively organizing the story.

In this story, our piglet, Missy (remember her from Try a New Food?) is growing up and is in love with Macintosh. It is time to separate the pigs into herds, by size. What will happen with the romance? This is a great story, with all the favorite Piggy Tales characters- Gladys' 8 piglets, the Nice Lady in Brown Boots, the Little Boy Who Likes to Chase Pigs, and even some new people and pig characters.

Spotlight: The little boy who likes to chase pigs

July 25- Austin Joel Williams was born on this day. He is the real-life inspiration for the character, "The Little Boy Who Likes to Chase Pigs". Austin likes all types of animals. He has two guinea pigs, Posiden and Apollo. Austin loves to play video games, learn new tricks on his skateboard, and even plays piano. His favorite cake is chocolate with chocolate frosting. Happy birthday, Austin!
